Today is May 16, 2026, and I saw the elusive Virginia panther. I watched from behind as it rested. Of course, it was just a “domesticated” cat that was in a neighbor’s yard. With cats, I don’t think domesticated is quite the right word, but it is for dogs as while dogs basically always want to be with you, I have never spent time with a cat that wants to be around you.
After the cat moved on, I saw several birds including a red-bellied woodpecker and cardinals. I also saw a lizard. I was sitting out in the yard as I saw these animals with the hope that I would see a fox again as I have seen several over the past week or two running around my house and the nearby forested area.
