As I write this, it is February 16, 2026, and today was the third day that I have taken my camera out since it snowed. Unfortunately, the paths that I usually walk on to do my photography have a lot of snow and ice on them still, so I turned back before I got too far. I don’t want to risk falling while I have my camera with me. I was lucky that before I turned around, I saw one of the barred owls again.
The first time that I took the camera out since it snowed was to see the hawk that landed in the tree in our front yard. It was only there for a moment before it decided to move on. The second time that I was out with my camera since the snow was on a Friday when my mom and I went to see the monks who were walking for peace. If we waited any longer to see them, they would have been in Washington DC and with how big the crowds looked in the pictures we saw, I doubt that we would have seen them.
If I am lucky, the snow and ice will be gone by the end of the week. There are huge streams of water running down the street and huge puddles of water around some parts of the path. The temperatures outside are warming up which should help with melting the snow and ice.
I am looking forward to the warmer weather as spring approaches. I like the cold less and less each year and I am always annoyed with the ice. I tend to slip and fall on it each year.
As spring gets closer, I am trying to figure out a few things for the garden that I grow every year. Among other things, I am trying to figure out what types of peppers and tomatoes I want to grow this year. I usually plant at least one new variety of each vegetable annually.
