During the beginning of summer 2023, I had been going out to the lake that I do much of my photography at just about every morning. After a couple of minutes of getting the camera and tripod set up, I would wait for several hours to see whatever might come by that day. There were things that I saw often such as red-winged blackbirds and other things that I saw less often such as osprey.
On occasion, the osprey would dive and catch a fish. One of the times that the osprey caught a fish, a bald eagle saw it and decided to fly after the osprey. I have read that bald eagles will steal from osprey which is what I assume this eagle was attempting to do.
Osprey mainly eat fish. They lay up to 4 eggs each year. The babies can start flying at around eight weeks old.
